Register a hairdressing, beauty therapy or body art business

Important information

If you have a business that provides hairdressing, beauty therapy or body art services, it needs to be registered.
Do this at least 30 days before opening. Your registration is valid for 12 months.
You must provide floor or building plans that show your treatment rooms and facilities.
Applicants can verify an Australian ID document online. This service checks existing government records to match your driver licence, passport, birth certificate or visa.

This takes about 10 to 15 minutes.

All steps must be completed in one go. You can't save your application and complete it at a later stage.

There is a fee. An environmental health officer will call you to arrange payment.
