Apply for a security licence

Important information

Security providers in the NT must be licensed. This includes security officers, crowd controllers and security firms.
Individual applicants must get training from a registered training provider. If you haven’t finished your training, you may be eligible for a provisional licence.
Submit a police fingerprint check before applying. You must do this through SAFE NT and select ‘security licence’ as your occupation type.
Attach the results of your police check to your licence application. If you don't, your application won't be processed until the results are provided.

This takes about 15 to 20 minutes.

You’ll be prompted to register for Licensing NT if you haven’t used the system before.

Once you register, make sure you link any existing licences to your profile by contacting Occupational Licensing.

There is a licence fee. You can pay when you apply online using a Mastercard or Visa credit or debit card.
