Renew your driver licence

Important information

  • Driver licences can be renewed online by NT residents who don’t need a new licence photo.
  • You’ll need your MVR transaction number. This can be found on your renewal notice.
  • After you renew, keep your receipt as evidence. You’ll need this until your driver licence card arrives in the mail.

Start now

This takes about 5 to 10 minutes.

Payment options

You’ll need to pay a licence fee. This can be done using BPAY, or a Mastercard or Visa credit or debit card.

If you're paying with BPAY

At the end of your renewal transaction in MVR Quickpay, you'll get your BPAY customer reference number. You can only use your BPAY customer reference number once and must complete payment within 3 days.

To make your BPAY payment, follow these steps:

1. Copy the payment details from the MVR Quickpay screen:

  • customer reference number
  • BPAY biller code
  • payment amount.

2. Log in to your nominated bank and process your BPAY payment.

Other ways to renew

You may be able to renew in person or over the phone. To find out more, go to the NT Government website.
