Register or update a property identification code (PIC)

Important information

You need a PIC if you keep livestock on a property you own, rent or manage, including agisted livestock.
Each PIC is unique and permanently registered against a parcel of land where livestock are kept.
You're required to provide details of the number and species of livestock kept on the parcel of land.
You'll also need the property owner's name and contact details.

This takes about 10 to 15 minutes.

All steps must be completed in one go. You can't save your request and complete it at a later stage.

There is no fee for this service.

Sheep - to move sheep into the NT you must apply for a permit. Read about keeping and moving sheep.
Native wildlife - a permit is needed to keep most native wildlife in the NT. Read about native animals that need a permit.
Bees - Beehives must be registered. Read about honey bees and beekeeping.
