Renew your commercial vehicle licence

Important information

  • Commercial vehicle licences (CVL) for taxis, rideshare vehicles, minibuses, motor omnibuses, tourist vehicles, private hire cars and other commercial passenger vehicles can be renewed online.
  • The vehicle must be registered in the NT.
  • You’ll need to provide your CVL number and your ABN.
  • If you aren't the owner of the vehicle, you'll need to attach written approval from the owner to your application. Details about what this needs to include are listed below.

Payment options

If your application is approved, you must pay a licence fee and additional motor accident compensation insurance as part of the vehicle registration.

You’ll receive an email with a link to pay online using a Mastercard or Visa credit or debit card.

If you aren't the vehicle's owner

You'll need to attach written approval from the owner to your application. This must include:

  • the owner's details (name, address, date of birth)
  • the vehicle's identification number (VIN)
  • the vehicle's registration number
  • a statement from the owner giving you permission to use the vehicle for commercial or rideshare purposes.
