Apply for a motor vehicle dealer licence

Important information

  • An annual licence is needed to run a motor vehicle dealership in the NT.
  • Applicants will need a criminal history check, also known as a national police check.
  • Attach the results of your criminal history check to your licence application. If you don't, your application won't be processed until the results are provided.
  • You’ll also need to attach a number of documents about the business including financial details, business plans, proof of ownership for the premises and evidence the land is correctly zoned.

You’ll be prompted to register for Licensing NT if you haven’t used the system before.

Once you register, make sure you link any existing licences to your profile by contacting Occupational Licensing.
