Modify a vehicle

Important information

Significant or extensive modifications to light or heavy vehicles need approval for registration in the NT.
Apply for this approval before starting any modifications.
Your approval will be given 'in principle'. This means that it's dependent on you meeting any outlined conditions.
If you aren't the owner of the vehicle, you'll need to attach written approval from the owner to your application.

This takes about 10 to 15 minutes.

All steps must be completed in one go. You can't save your application and complete it at a later stage.

There is no fee for this service.
