  • Permits are valid for 10 years.
  • To apply for a permit you must be at least 18 years old.

Verify your identity options

You can verify your identity through one of the below options:

  1. Australian Government’s Document Verification Service (DVS). This service checks existing government records to match your driver licence, passport or birth certificate. You can find out more information about this service on Verify your identity documents.
  2. Australian identity document. You must upload a copy of one of the following for manual verification:
    1. driver licence
    2. passport
    3. birth certificate
    4. evidence or proof of age card
    5. NT firearms licence.
